Come develop your
personal fitness and strength while you’re helping homeless families
through the Center for Women in Transition!
This ride will visit communities near Champaign-Urbana on flat to *very*
slightly rolling terrain. Looping routes of 8, 25 and 27 miles are suitable
for a wide range of riders. Do both long routes for 52 miles! An optional
urban route of 4.5 miles will take you past the Center for Women in
Transition at 508 E. Church Street.
Marked routes, maps, sag support and food stops are all provided. Ride
registration is from 9:00-10:30. Upon your return to the park check
out lots of information about bicycles and entertainment at the regional
BikeFest which starts at noon.
Maybe it's time
to renew that New Year's Resolution or welcome the spring by setting
a fitness goal.
Come as
a team!!!
Registration is $25.00 - but if four of you come together, it's $80.oo
for all of you. (Register together by sending four forms in the mail
or coming together for on-site registration on the day of the event.)
Give your team a name and get out there and start riding - spring is
here!
Here are some links
to get you started, tho' of course *you* are the expert on what is safe
for you. These are ideas other local cyclists have found useful.

Need to know where
to ride?

for the short paved path (3 miles) or ride the 9 mile "pretty
horse farm" loop ... or take shortcut. You can also continue
to Philo (you'll have to zoom in and out to see it on the map)
or, if the wind says it would be wise, go
to TOlono with the option to loop
back or go all the way to & from
Sadorus.
If you're trying
to get outta town from Champaign, check
this route out (use your good urban riding strategies - or see
some of the tips to your left for hints!)
One of our favorite
starting points is Countryside Day School (which you can get to
from the above by taking Bradley over the INterstate out to 700,
going South for 3 miles to Kirby and cutting back East... or just
keep riding around 'cause most of the roads out there are nice!
Nine-mile
loop from Countryside, or the 22-mile
Sadorus Swing (many of the roads between are good shortcuts
) - the "Sadorus Slab" is smooth and sweet!
