For each picture below, describe how the person could have shown perseverance or needed to have perseverance to do what he or she is doing.

It takes time and a lot of work to get a diploma.

It took many years and trying lots of different things to finally figure out a light bulb that worked.

 

2. How do you know Stanley's father has perseverance?

See page 8, penultimate paragraph: "Stanley's father was smart and had a lot of perseverance. Once he started a project he would work on it for years, often going for days without sleep. He just never had any luck."

(If students see the movie HOLES, Stanley's father is played by Henry Winkler, who is dyslexic.)
