Emotions wreak havoc with math. He was already frustrated. Everything I said and that hhe saw was being diffracted and distorted, so she kept making mistake after mistake after mistake, not even the same mistake -- creative, unique mistakes he wasn't making yesterday. and the errors weren't even diagnostic because they didn't reflect thinking, but emotions.

Sometimes tutoring stinks.
